for understanding the current state and future directions of the Sri Lankan and global economies
Aim of the workshop
The aim of the workshop is to aid business executives understand the global and Sri Lankan economies, and our reports on these (see below for more on reports) by providing an insight into our views on the economic foundations for understanding these economies and trends in them. Particular attention is paid to the foundations for our explanation of actual and forecast trends in the global and Sri Lankan economies for business (and investment) decision-making.
The Foundations Workshop is seen as indispensable for following our Updates workshops, which focuses on current developments in the global and Sri Lankan economies. Although the intention of the Foundation and Updates workshops is not to make explicit recommendations in terms of asset choices, these are implicit in the analyses provided in these workshops.
The aim of the first part of the Foundations Workshop on the global economy is to make explicit the foundations for our understanding of trends and cyclical developments in global economic growth, global inflation and primary commodity prices, global stock markets and interest rates, and currencies of major global economies, as well as to explain the basis for our forecasts in respect of these. The aim of the second part of the workshop on the Sri Lankan economy is to make explicit the foundations for our explanation and forecasts of the important macroeconomic variables that typically are, or should be, used in corporate planning, treasury management, forex trading, etc., in Sri Lanka.
